Guide: Learn more about RUPES polishing compounds
Choosing the right polish compound
When it comes to different types of damage, coats and paint, polishers, polishing pads, it is also important to choose the right polish compound to make the work as efficient and safe as possible. The polish compound from the BigFoot series is based on research and consists of high-quality materials, all of which are silicone-free.
With its unique formula, RUPES BigFoot polish ensures that the products have the perfect combination of viscosity and aggressiveness. The unique compositions result in products that provide the best possible solution for a uniform distribution on the polishing pad. Keep reading to see which ones you should use.
three types
When choosing Rupe's polish compound, it is important to think about which polisher you are using. There are three different types of polish compound depending on the machine's oscillation and rotation.
RANDOM ORBITAL & TRIPLE ACTION
POLISHING COMPOUNDS
For polishing with random orbital and triple action polishers, the compounds offer four different levels of coarseness depending on where you are in the process and what you require. 1. Zephir (Coarse), 2. Quarz (Medium), 3. Ceramics (Fine) and 4. Diamond (Ultra fine).
GEAR DRIVEN (MILLE)
POLISHING COMPOUNDS
This range takes into account the different motions (rotational and orbital) that the tool creates. With visible variations in temperature, cutting speed and the amount of energy delivered to the surface, the new MILLE polishing compound is formulated to achieve the best performance from the gear-driven system.
ROTARY
POLISHING COMPOUNDS
This range is designed to maximise the efficiency of rotating polishers. The range is the result of thorough research in order to achieve the optimal combination of a fast cut effect and a nice finish.
four colours
Depending on where you are in the work process, the Rupes polishing compound is split according to level of coarseness. The colours match the polishing pads.
COARSE
A high-performance compound recommended as your first step in polishing. Its grains are the most "aggressive" in the BigFoot abrasive series, and it is used to remove marks and scratches quickly.
MEDIUM
A compound with a medium grain that easily repairs minor superficial scratches and minor marks from sources such as wash brushes. You can use Medium Compound with complete peace of mind that it won’t leave halos or holograms.
FINE
The ideal composition is to achieve a perfect finish, especially on clearcoats. The fine water-soluble polishing compound eliminates any paint defects and is used as a final step for a hologram-free spot repair after micro sanding and nib removal.
ULTRA FINE
Specially developed for finishing. The product's ultra-fine abrasive compound produces a deep shine and colour depth. The extremely impressive sheen that all professionals have been seeking for years has now been made readily available.
WHICH POLISHING COMPOUND SHOULD I GO FOR?
Similar to choosing your polisher, the right polishing compound depends on the finish you want. When choosing your polishing compound, think about what you want to achieve, the appearance and the condition of the item you want to polish. With ten different polish compounds, each meeting specific finish needs, RUPES offers a specially developed compound based on the machine type, the condition of the item and the desired result. Here’s our guide for choosing the right RUPES polishing compound for you:
1. Choose a polish compound based on your polisher
- Random Orbital or Triple Action Polisher
- Gear Driven polisher
- Rotary polisher
2. Choose a polish compound based on the steps in the polishing process
- Rough (blue)
- Medium (green) - only available for random orbital / triple action machines
- Fine (yellow)
- Ultra Fine (white)
